Job summary

Wirral Change seeks a proactive Hub Coordinator to manage daily operations across our community hub, kitchen, food bank, and donation streams in Wirral. You will work closely with volunteers and staff to ensure safe, efficient service and compliant delivery of programs supporting local residents.

The role includes undertaking a Level 3 Improvement Technician Apprenticeship with structured study time and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Willingness to commit to Level 3 Improvement Technician Apprenticeship.
• Practical experience in kitchen coordination, catering, or food handling.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, safe storage, cross-contamination prevention, and allergens.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Clear, empathetic communication with diverse users.
• Proactive approach to daily challenges and system improvements.
• Ability to guide and support volunteers inclusively.
• Calm and dependable under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook balanced meals for lunch club and events.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and compliance with Food Hygiene/HACCP and safety standards.
• Coordinate hub checks, cleaning, pest control, and equipment servicing.
• Monitor food waste; implement portion control and sustainable disposal methods.
• Deliver inclusive customer service across food and hub offerings.
• Support catering, logistics, and room setups for groups and events.
• Oversee intake, cataloguing, and storage of donations; organisation of shop and cafe.
• Lead volunteers and maintain operational records; report on performance and improvements.
