Job summary

Northumberland County Council is recruiting a Community Assistant (Catering) for our Learning Cafe at the Community Hub in Cramlington. You will serve food and drinks, assist with bookings, and help maintain a welcoming hub for all users.

Ideal candidates have good numeracy and literacy, basic food hygiene knowledge and some bar/hospitality exposure. This on-site role offers local government benefits and flexible leave where applicable.

Qualifications

• A good general education, numeracy, and literacy skills.
• Awareness of health and safety practices.
• Basic food hygiene knowledge or certification (desirable but not essential).
• Bar and hospitality experience, including handling food and drinks (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Serving food and drinks in our cafe and bar
• Basic food preparation and making coffees on our barista machine
• Assisting with bookings and maintaining a friendly environment for all hub users
• Carrying out light cleaning and safety tasks to keep the hub in great shape
• Cash handling
• Providing a great customer experience
