Could you help households struggling with rising energy costs build a more secure future?
Citizens Advice New Forest is looking for a motivated and compassionate Community Energy Adviser to support vulnerable households experiencing fuel poverty, energy affordability issues and challenges managing their energy costs. As part of the Rural Energy Connect project, you will provide free, independent and impartial advice to people across the New Forest. Working in trusted community settings such as foodbanks, warm hubs and community venues, you will help clients understand their energy situation, access grants and support schemes, improve energy efficiency and increase their long-term financial resilience.
This is a varied role combining community outreach, one-to-one advice, home visits, casework support and partnership working. You will also work closely with a wider team delivering the project across Mid-Hampshire. We are looking for candidates with:
Experience supporting or advising people facing financial hardship, vulnerability or other life challenges
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and build trust
A person-centred approach, helping clients identify practical solutions and achieve positive outcomes
Strong organisational and case management skills, able to manage a varied workload and maintain accurate records
The ability to work independently across community locations while contributing effectively as part of a wider team
Good IT, numeracy and administrative skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and case management systems
Experience of energy advice is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from people with transferable skills gained through advice, support, advocacy, welfare, housing, debt, community development or similar roles. Full training will be provided, including support to achieve a recognised energy awareness qualification.
