Job description
Communications Industrial Placement – Major UK Infrastructure Project

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading player in the UK’s energy and infrastructure sector, is offering an exceptional 12-month placement for a talented Communications student or graduate. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to one of the country’s most ambitious and high-profile construction projects—a development that’s shaping the future of sustainable energy in Britain.

This placement provides a starting salary of £24,500 and is based at a major construction site near Bridgwater, Somerset – currently the largest engineering project of its kind in Europe.

The Role

The successful candidate will join the organisation’s Communications Programme, gaining first-hand experience in delivering impactful internal and external communications across a fast-paced and technically complex environment. Working alongside experienced communications professionals, the placement student will take part in real projects that influence engagement, safety awareness, and storytelling across a diverse workforce.

Typical activities may include:
  • Supporting site-wide communication campaigns and events
  • Contributing to internal publications and newsletters
  • Assisting with digital communications such as intranet content and employee apps
  • Producing photography and short films to capture key milestones and project updates

This placement provides an excellent opportunity to apply academic learning to genuine industry challenges, develop professional skills, and gain valuable experience towards your degree.

About You

Applicants should be working towards or have recently completed a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree (2:2 or above) in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Film Studies, or a related subject.

Desirable skills and interests include:
  • Photography and video production
  • Content creation and digital media
  • Familiarity with creative software such as Adobe Express or similar tools

The organisation takes a strengths-based approach to recruitment, focusing on what motivates and energises individuals rather than just experience alone.

Location

The role is based on-site near Bridgwater, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the heart of a major national infrastructure project.

Rewards and Benefits

In addition to a starting salary of £24,500, the package includes a generous pension scheme and a flexible benefits package that can include options such as electric vehicle leasing, gym membership discounts, life assurance, and tech or experience vouchers.

Culture and Inclusion

Our client is deeply committed to creating an inclusive and supportive working culture where everyone feels welcome and valued. They actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds and provide reasonable adjustments for candidates with disabilities or additional needs.

This is a highly sought-after placement opportunity, attracting significant interest each year. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to avoid disappointment.
