Job summary
RBH Hospitality Management's Wotton House is seeking a Commis Chef to support a professional kitchen team in delivering high-quality services at our countryside hotel.
You will assist with food prep, work alongside senior chefs and maintain hygiene standards while developing essential cooking skills in a busy, guest-focused environment. The role offers a supportive, flexible schedule and opportunities for growth within RBH hotels.
Qualifications
- Genuine interest in cooking and willingness to learn in a professional kitchen.

- Understanding of basic food prep techniques and commitment to improving skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing ingredients for various dishes, from chopping to marinating and portioning.
- Work with senior chefs across sections to gain hands-on experience.
- Maintain a clean, organised workstation following hygiene and food safety standards.
- Help with kitchen inventory by preparing ingredients and monitoring stock levels.
- Take on basic cooking tasks including sauces, grilling, frying and plating.
- Participate in regular cleaning duties to keep equipment and surfaces spotless.
- Learn and adapt to kitchen procedures to contribute to a well-organised team.

What you'll be doing...
- Assist in preparing ingredients for various dishes, from chopping and slicing to marinating and portioning, to ensure each station runs smoothly.
- Work alongside senior chefs in all sections, gaining hands‑on experience and refining essential cooking techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organised workstation, following hygiene and food safety standards rigorously.
- Help with kitchen inventory by preparing ingredients, monitoring stock levels, and informing chefs when supplies are low.
- Take on basic cooking tasks, including making sauces, grilling, frying, and assisting with plating.
- Participate in regular cleaning duties to ensure all equipment and surfaces are kept spotless.
- Quickly learn and adapt to kitchen procedures, contributing effectively to a well‑organised team.
- Genuine interest in cooking and enthusiasm for learning in a professional kitchen.
- Some previous kitchen experience is a plus, but a willingness to work hard and learn is essential.
- Understanding of basic food prep techniques and a commitment to improving your skills.
- Strong attention to detail, especially regarding cleanliness and food safety.
- Team‑oriented mindset, able to take direction well and support colleagues as needed.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, staying focused and reliable during busy services.
