Job summary

Wotton House is seeking a friendly Banqueting Assistant to join our Food & Beverage team in the Surrey countryside. You will help deliver hospitality at weddings, celebrations and corporate events, ensuring guests receive attentive service and a memorable experience.

You'll work closely with Kitchen, Conference & Events teams and support with setting up spaces, handling drinks, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and presentation. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in banqueting, events, restaurants or hospitality would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
• Passion for hospitality and delivering excellent guest service.
• Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic personality.
• Confident in interacting with guests and making them feel welcome.
• Great communication and a positive, team-focused attitude.
• Ability to stay calm, organised and upbeat during busy events.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming guests and creating a fantastic atmosphere at weddings, celebrations and events.
• Delivering friendly, attentive and professional food and beverage service.
• Serving food and drinks during weddings, private dinners, conferences and receptions.
• Setting up event spaces and ensuring every detail is right.

• Clearing and resetting tables efficiently while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

THE ROLE – BANQUETING ASSISTANT

We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and energetic Banqueting Assistant to join our Food & Beverage team and help bring a little Wonderfully Wotton magic to every event!

From beautiful weddings and special celebrations to corporate dinners, conferences and everything in between, no two days are quite the same in our Banqueting team.

Whether you're serving a delicious three-course wedding breakfast, welcoming guests with a glass of fizz or helping transform one of our event spaces into something truly special, you'll play an important part in creating unforgettable experiences.

We're looking for someone who enjoys meeting new people, thrives in a lively environment and loves being part of those special moments that our guests will remember for years to come.

You don't need to know everything about banqueting or events, but a passion for hospitality, a positive attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in are a must!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BANQUETING ASSISTANT

You'll be:

• Welcoming guests with a warm smile and helping create a fantastic atmosphere at our weddings, celebrations and events

• Delivering friendly, attentive and professional food and beverage service throughout a variety of events

• Serving food and drinks during wedding breakfasts, private dinners, conferences, drinks receptions and special occasions

• Setting up our beautiful event spaces, including laying tables, arranging furniture and ensuring every detail is just right

• Supporting with drinks receptions, tray service and ensuring guests are well looked after throughout their event

• Working closely with our Kitchen, Conference & Events and wider Food & Beverage teams to ensure everything runs smoothly

• Following event plans and instructions to ensure each occasion is delivered to our high standards

• Clearing and resetting tables efficiently while maintaining a professional and welcoming atmosphere

• Assisting with the preparation, turnaround and breakdown of event spaces before, during and after functions

• Responding to guest requests and helping create those little extra touches that make a big difference

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, food hygiene and health & safety

• Supporting with the movement and safe handling of furniture, equipment and event supplies

• Getting involved in a variety of exciting events, from intimate celebrations to large-scale weddings and corporate functions

• Supporting your colleagues, sharing ideas and getting stuck in when things get busy!

We're looking for someone who understands that great events aren't just about beautiful surroundings and delicious food – it's about how you make people feel and the memories you help create.

You’ll bring:

• Previous experience in banqueting, events, restaurants or hospitality would be advantageous, but isn't essential

• A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering excellent guest service

• A friendly, approachable and enthusiastic personality

• Confidence in interacting with guests and making them feel welcome

• Great communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

• The ability to stay calm, organised and upbeat during busy events

• Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards of service and presentation

• A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to support wherever needed

• The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a busy team

• A willingness to learn new skills and develop your knowledge of food, beverages and event service

• Reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude towards changing event requirements

• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Experience in a hotel, wedding venue or busy events environment would be a bonus, but personality, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are just as important to us.
