Commercial Manager – Rail Industry - Derby / Hybrid | Contract: Full-time, Permanent - £65,000

Are you ready to lead the charge in one of the UK’s most innovative rail companies?

We are thrilled to be working exclusively with a pioneering player in the UK rail industry.

Specialising in ad-hoc movement of rolling stock, locomotive spot hire, and charter train operations, our client is revolutionising UK rail transport with the launch of the country’s most advanced tri-mode locomotives. These cutting-edge locomotives are at the forefront of sustainability and efficiency in rail transport.

Now, we’re looking for a Commercial Manager to drive the next phase of growth for this industry-leading business.

About the Role:

As the Commercial Manager, you’ll be the strategic leader driving business development, expanding market share, and ensuring our client meets its revenue and profit targets.

From leading tender processes to negotiating contracts, your expertise will be crucial in shaping the future of rail. This role is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact and be part of a company at the forefront of rail innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Increase business revenue by identifying and developing new opportunities and expanding the company’s presence

  • Lead the lease tender process, from enquiry to successful bid submission

  • Lead contract negotiations with existing customers to maximise business outcomes

  • Keep a sharp eye on the marketplace for new leasing opportunities

  • Develop and implement leasing and marketing strategies to enhance the company’s market position

  • Build and nurture strategic relationships with stakeholders and clients to bring in new business

  • Research emerging trends and recommend new capabilities to satisfy customer needs

  • Maximise industry event opportunities for networking and staying ahead of the curve

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience in the commercial rail or aerospace sector

  • 5+ years of leasing experience in rail or aerospace industries

  • A proven track record in business development and new business acquisition

  • Exceptional Commercial Management skills with a strong understanding of sales and tender processes

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in analysing and solving complex business challenges

  • Strong communication, negotiation skills, and an ability to persuade and influence

  • Detail-oriented, with excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities
