Job Description:

The Sales Manager is responsible for the aggregates sales of our Ontario Trap Rock (OTR) business, servicing primarily Michigan and the eastern US Great Lakes Region for OTR. The successful candidate will be responsible for retaining current customer business, maintaining a sustainable sales strategy while comprehensively seeking new business opportunities. Given the semi-autonomous nature of this position, proficient communication, distinct alignment with team goals, and a high level of trust is key.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the General Sale Manager OTR and sales team to develop strategies and sales objectives
  • Effectively conduct sales, business development and marketing in coordination with the OTR/Tomlinson team.
  • Timely and accurate completion of required reports in the CRM (Salesforce) system
  • Participate in specified conferences and boards on national, regional and local basis
  • Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with all members of the Tomlinson team, customers and partners
  • Maintain and establish relationship with customer decision makers and key accounts
  • Maintain and establish relationships with marine industry personnel from shipping companies
  • Ensures that appropriate analysis is conducted which includes competitive market analysis
  • Identify required new capabilities, provide feedback on products and services, industry trends and customer needs, and foster partnerships with key players to support successful proposal bids
  • Frequent in person visits with customers, receiving docks, and industry partners across multi-state territory.
  • Help to develop new product ideas and identify opportunities in response to current and future market needs
  • Ensure that business processes and tools are implemented and improved

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field is an asset
  • 10 plus years of progressive sales and leadership experience with proven track record
  • Proven ability to understand customers’ decision-making process and create and drive enterprise-wide solutions for our customers
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing short and long-term business plans and strategies designed to assure timely orders resulting in company growth
  • Experience and understanding of forecasting, standard estimating and budgeting practices and planning
  • Experience in aggregate and/or related construction materials sales, aggregate product knowledge and Great Lakes shipping is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Remote home office environment.
  • Requirement for evening and weekend work and customer or industry events
  • Frequent travel within the United States with occasional visits to Canada. A valid passport is required.
