The house began life as a Tudor hunting lodge and under successive owners has undergone significant changes. We are a small team of staff and volunteers who together take care of this remarkable place and bring it to life for our visitors. The Collections and House Officer plays an important part in that team.
As the Collections and House Officer, you’ll work closely with the Senior Visitor Experience Officer to be responsible for opening the house every day, and making sure there are enough people in the right places to give visitors a consistently good experience.
You will be line managed by the Property Operations Manager and supported by the Collections and House Manager who works across the Property Group of five properties. You'll be responsible for routine conservation, preventive conservation and the annual programme of deep cleaning. At Newark we encourage visitors to have a relaxed visit and as part of your role you will work with the Visitor Experience team to present the property in new and innovative ways.
You’ll collect and record information gathered during cleaning and housekeeping, to improve our knowledge and understanding of the house and all that’s in it. You’ll use preventive conservation methods to improve how we look after everything, and how we present it to visitors.
