Job summary

Watergate Bay Hotel in Newquay is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join The Beach Hut team. Reporting to Senior Sous Chef, you’ll help deliver exceptional guest experiences through high standards of food preparation and service.

Working closely with Head Chef and Executive Chef, you’ll cook, prepare and portion dishes, lead by example, and support junior team members while maintaining food safety and kitchen organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chef de Partie with a track record of kitchen teamwork.
• Ability to lead and support a busy kitchen during service.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in high standards.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Executive Chef and Head Chef with day-to-day organisation and running of the kitchen.
• Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality dishes to hotel standards.
• Taking an active role in leading and supporting the kitchen team during service.
• Supporting and developing junior members of the team, sharing knowledge.
• Assisting with preparation and organisation of the kitchen ahead of service.
• Monitoring quality, consistency and presentation.
• Assisting with stock control, including stock rotation, organisation and replenishment.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Following kitchen procedures and daily checks, including temperature records and food safety processes.
• Helping create a positive, safe and well-organised working environment.
• Step up and support running of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
