Cornwall Staff Agency Limited is recruiting a talented Sous Chef for a four‑star hotel in Newquay, Cornwall. You will join a busy kitchen team, support the Head Chef, and lead staff to deliver exceptional dishes for hotel guests.

You’ll work with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, develop leadership skills and help manage costs while ensuring top standards of quality and food safety in a welcoming, coastal hotel setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably at Sous Chef or senior chef level.
• Ability to lead a team and maintain high standards in a busy kitchen.
• Strong focus on food safety, hygiene and cost awareness.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Lead, motivate and support the kitchen team during service.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, flavour and presentation.
• Train and develop junior chefs.
• Assist with menu planning, dish development and costing.
• Manage food purchasing and help control kitchen costs.
• Monitor stock and minimise food waste.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene, labeling and temperature controls.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and arrange repairs when needed.
• Support staff appraisals and ongoing team development.
• Ensure each service runs smoothly with excellent guest experience.
