Matchtech in Poole is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to programme, set and operate CNC lathes in a precision engineering environment. You will create components from drawings, optimise programs for efficiency and ensure tight tolerances are met.

The role requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Sliding head CNC experience is highly advantageous, with competitive hourly pay and ongoing development opportunities.

CNC Machinist - Turner

Poole, Dorset

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a busy and growing machine shop in Poole. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a precision engineering environment and takes pride in producing high-quality components to tight tolerances.

The Role

• Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes.
• Producing precision-engineered components from technical drawings and specifications.
• Optimising programs to improve efficiency and cycle times.
• Selecting and setting tooling and work-holding equipment.
• Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments where required.
• Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Ensuring all components meet quality standards and specified tolerances.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Following all company health and safety procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience as a CNC Programmer, Setter and Operator.
• Strong CNC turning experience.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working to close tolerances and quality standards.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.Experience with Sliding Head CNC machines (Citizen, Tornos or similar) would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong CNC turning backgrounds will also be considered.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00, 30-minute unpaid lunch break, Two paid 10-minute tea breaks

Friday: 07:00 - 12:00, One paid tea break, Total paid hours: 39 hours per week

Salary & Benefits

£18.00 - £21.00 per hour, depending on experience and skillset.

Approximate annual earnings: £36,504 per annum based on £18.00 per hour; £42,588 per annum based on £21.00 per hour; Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate when available (not guaranteed). Candidates with proven experience programming, setting and operating Sliding Head CNC machines may be considered for a salary above the advertised range, depending on their level of experience, expertise and overall suitability for the role.
