An established industry player is seeking motivated Clinical Technologists to join their Rehabilitation Engineering team. This role involves applying engineering principles to enhance the mobility and wellbeing of thousands of NHS wheelchair users. The Regional Rehabilitation and Mobility Service (RREMS) provides clinical engineering expertise to 12 wheelchair services across the North-east of England and North Cumbria. The team includes 12 Clinical Technologists in Rehabilitation Engineering, 2 Rehabilitation Engineering Technologists, and 6 administrative staff. This position is based at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The responsibilities of RREMS Clinical Technologists include undertaking engineering modifications to wheelchairs, specifying and providing powered wheelchairs, and providing technical, biomechanical, and safety input to multidisciplinary wheelchair service teams. The service also collaborates closely with the Approved Wheelchair Repair Contractor.

RREMS Clinical Technologists specialise in Rehabilitation Engineering, applying engineering principles and technology to restore or improve the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of approximately 70,000 NHS wheelchair users (around 4,000 with powered wheelchairs) and their carers.
Applications are invited from candidates with a degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in an appropriate discipline, with demonstrable relevant experience, including completion of a recognised engineering or technical apprenticeship or training course. The post holder will also be required to enroll in the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme, leading to registration as a Clinical Technologist with RCT or AHCS.
RREMS Clinical Technologists work independently or as part of multidisciplinary teams, providing specialist engineering services and technical knowledge to support patient care.

We are seeking two qualified, motivated engineers to join the RREMS team to deliver day-to-day services. The successful candidates will have specialist knowledge of wheeled mobility equipment, excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills, well-developed patient handling skills, and familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements. Knowledge of IT packages (Microsoft Office, 2D CAD, 3D Modelling) and a full valid driving license are essential due to frequent travel.
