Job description
Overview

We are seeking Clinical/Counselling Psychologists (CP) to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service in Barking & Dagenham (B&D). This post would suit someone with an interest in trauma and working with adolescent populations, with opportunities for training and development. The post includes leadership in developing improved adolescent pathways within EIP and joint working with CAMHS.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and evidence-based interventions for the client group, including individual, group, and family work.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and offer support and supervision on psychological approaches to working with psychosis.
  • Participate in supervision and CPD focused on evidence-based interventions in psychosis (monthly group supervision in FIp; individual and group supervision in CBT for psychosis).
  • Contribute to supervision and teaching, including supervising trainee psychologists when appropriate; participate in teaching and research projects as desired.
  • Lead the development of adolescent pathways within EIP and engage in joint work with CAMHS.
  • Engage with trauma-informed care approaches (including NET and EMDR) and participate in related supervision and CPD opportunities (e.g., NET training).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Registration as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist and eligibility to practice within the NHS.
  • Experience or strong interest in trauma-informed care and adolescent populations; ability to work with people aged 14-65 experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their family.
  • Experience or training in NET, EMDR, CBT for psychosis (CBTp), and related therapies; willingness to participate in ongoing CPD and supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and to supervise trainees when appropriate; involvement in teaching and/or research projects is desirable.
  • Current involvement or interest in teaching and supervising trainee psychologists when appropriate.
Training, Supervision and CPD
  • Supervision and CPD opportunities are provided, including individual and group supervision in CBTp and group supervision in FIp and NET; annual NET training is offered.
  • One session per week guaranteed for CPD.
Induction and Support

NELFT places importance on welcoming and inducting new starters. Induction includes mandatory and systems training, equipment allocation, and opportunities to meet the executive team and senior managers. Induction is held at the Trust head office in Rainham, Essex.

Contract and Benefits
  • Probationary period applies to this post (internal applicants may be exempt).
  • London High Cost Area Supplement: 15% of basic salary (min £4,313; max £5,436 per annum pro rata).
