Job summary

Maiden Erlegh School, located in Lower Earley near Reading, seeks a Cover Supervisor to supervise classes when the regular teacher is absent, using pre-prepared resources to keep students safe and engaged in learning.

You will register attendance, support learning activities, and uphold safeguarding and school policies while contributing to the wider life of the school and performing admin duties as required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
• Experience of working in a school or with young people (desirable).
• Confident in exercising authority and managing behaviour.
• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently, using initiative, while maintaining confidentiality.
• Committed to student wellbeing and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring a calm and purposeful learning environment.
• Register attendance and manage orderly entry and exit from classrooms.
• Communicate lesson instructions clearly and provide appropriate resources to students.
• Manage behaviour in line with school systems and expectations.
• Collect and return student work and complete routine reporting as required.
• Support the administration team and departments during unallocated periods.
• Undertake lunchtime, break-time and exam invigilation duties as required.
• Comply fully with safeguarding, health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
