Job summary

Maiden Erlegh School is a highly successful comprehensive school for students aged 11-18, located in Lower Earley, near Reading. You will work closely with teachers to support individual students and small groups to access the curriculum and participate fully.

We offer strong professional development and a warm, supportive environment; applicants with NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning and English/Maths are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 / CACHE Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, plus NVQ Level 2 in English and mathematics.
• Experience supporting students with learning, SEND or behavioural needs.
• Commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Work with teachers to understand lesson objectives and support needs.
• Support individual students and small groups to access learning activities.
• Check understanding and provide prompting and guidance as required.
• Encourage participation, develop thinking skills and pride in work.
• Provide feedback to teachers to inform assessment and planning.
• Help maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
• Support students with SEND through agreed strategies and interventions.
• Prepare and organise learning resources and run small intervention groups.
• Collaborate with colleagues to promote inclusive learning.
