About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Portsmouth. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to pupils aged 8-16 with a range of Special Educational Needs, including SEMH. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, create a nurturing learning environment, and ensure every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN and SEMH.
  • Create and maintain positive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with support staff and external professionals.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, using assessments to inform future planning.
  • Work effectively with teaching assistants and other staff to support learning across individual, small group, and whole-class settings.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that prioritises pupil wellbeing and safeguarding.
