Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd invites applications for a Class 1 Driver role based in Shepton Mallet. You will trunk palletised freight to hub locations and back, with duties including manifest checks and secure loading.

Shifts are Monday–Friday nights starting at 19:00. Training is provided with opportunities to gain additional certifications and develop within an expanding business.

Qualifications

• UK Class 1 (C+E) Licence required.
• Valid DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card required.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
• Ability to work to time-critical deadlines.
• Confident, polite and team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate a curtain-side trailer to trunk palletised goods between Shepton Mallet and pallet-network hubs.
• Verify freight against the manifest at each depot stop.
• Seek additional certifications such as LST and ADR during employment.
• Ensure goods are loaded, secured and protected with straps and nets.
• Perform daily vehicle safety checks and communicate with Transport Team.
• Attend ongoing training and development sessions.

About The Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you'll play a key role in the smooth, efficient movement of palletised freight across our network. Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating a curtain-side trailer to trunk palletised goods from our Shepton Mallet depot to pallet-network hubs in the West Midlands, before reloading back to Shepton Mallet.
• Providing internal trunking support where required, including accurately verifying freight against the manifest at each depot stop.
• Taking advantage of opportunities to gain additional certifications, including LST (Longer Semi-Trailer) and ADR during your employment.
• Ensuring all goods are safely loaded, secured, and protected, using straps, nets, and other appropriate securing equipment.
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks.
• Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Team.
• Attending ongoing training and development sessions to stay up to date with industry standards and best practice.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
