Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. in Shepton Mallet is seeking a Class 1 Driver to move palletised freight across our network, with trunking to West Midlands hubs and back.

You’ll verify freight against manifests, gain extra qualifications, and ensure safe loading and securement of goods. The role includes nights (19:00 start), Monday–Friday, with a competitive salary of £49,240 per annum, and a range of training and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Operate a curtain-side trailer to trunk palletised goods from Shepton Mallet depot to pallet-network hubs in the West Midlands, then reload back to Shepton Mallet
• Provide internal trunking support and verify freight against the manifest at each depot stop
• Seek opportunities to gain additional qualifications (LST, ADR) during employment
• Ensure all goods are safely loaded, secured, and protected with appropriate equipment
• Complete daily vehicle safety checks
• Maintain regular communication with the Transport Team
• Attend ongoing training and development sessions to stay up to date with industry standards

About the Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you’ll play a key role in the smooth, efficient movement of palletised freight across our network. Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating a curtain‑side trailer to trunk palletised goods from our Shepton Mallet depot to pallet‑network hubs in the West Midlands, before reloading back to Shepton Mallet.
• Providing internal trunking support where required, including accurately verifying freight against the manifest at each depot stop.
• Taking advantage of opportunities to gain additional certifications, including LST (Longer Semi-Trailer) and ADR during your employment.
• Ensuring all goods are safely loaded, secured, and protected, using straps, nets, and other appropriate securing equipment.
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks.
• Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Team.
• Attending ongoing training and development sessions to stay up to date with industry standards and best practice.
