Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. is seeking a Class 1 Night Driver to join a dedicated contract. You will deliver goods to retail stores using curtain side, tail lift and box trailers, with 1–3 drops per shift in line with the schedule.

The position offers a competitive salary of £43,786 per annum, based on a 48-hour week, plus overtime opportunities, strong safety standards, and a focus on customer service at every delivery point.

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Minimum 6 months HGV driving experience.
• Experience delivering to retail or commercial sites preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods to retail stores on a dedicated contract using curtain side, tail lift, and box trailers.
• Complete 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule.
• Ensure loads are safely restrained and secured for transit.
• Operate electric-assisted pallet trucks and assist unloading at customer sites.
• Manage trailer movements and return trailers for servicing.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and communicate with transport office.
• Represent the company professionally at delivery points and build relationships.
• Participate in ongoing training and development on industry regulations.

Job description

Shift: Monday - Friday, start times between 13:00hrs - 16:00hrs

Competitive Salary: £43,786 per annum based on a 48-hour working week, including a £17.50 shift allowance for shifts starting between 12:00hrs and 02:00hrs.*

About the Role

As a Class 1 Night Driver, you will:

• Deliver goods to retail stores on a dedicated contract using curtain side, tail lift, and box trailers, while returning store waste to the depot.
• Complete an average of 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule and route planning.
• Ensure all loads are safely and securely restrained using straps, nets, and appropriate securing equipment to prevent movement or damage during transit.
• Safely operate electric‑assisted pallet trucks and carry out manual handling for cage‑based deliveries when required, ensuring efficient and safe unloading at customer sites.
• Manage trailer movements, including the collection and return of trailers for servicing at the end of each shift.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.
• Maintain regular communication with the transport office to provide updates on delivery progress and respond to any changes or issues in real time.
• Represent the company professionally at every delivery point, ensuring excellent customer service and building strong relationships with store teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and development, including refresher courses and updates on industry regulations, to keep your skills sharp and compliant.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• A minimum of 6 months' HGV driving experience.
• Previous experience delivering to retail or commercial sites (preferred but not essential).
• A strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously.
• The ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to work independently when required.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.
