Job summary

Ignition Driver Recruitment in Newcastle is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) drivers for trunking roles with curtain sider duties. You’ll operate between depots and distribution centres, perform pre-shift checks, and ensure on-time, compliant deliveries.

Requires a valid UK Class 1 licence, 2 years’ experience, and a DCPC. Competitive hourly rates apply with immediate starts and weekly pay in a busy Newcastle operation.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid UK Class 1 driving licence (C+E).
• Minimum 2 years of commercial Class 1 driving experience.
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card required.

Responsibilities

• Trunking between depots and distribution centres.
• Curtain sider work including pulling curtains for side tip deliveries.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and defect reporting.
• Ensure deliveries are completed safely, on time and in compliance with regulations.

The Role

As a professional HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties may include:

• Trunking between depots and distribution centres
• Curtain Sider work
  • Driver required to pull the curtains for side tip deliveries
• Completing daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
• Ensuring deliveries are completed safely, professionally and on time
• Complying with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and Road Transport regulations
• Completing all relevant paperwork and electronic records accurately

What We're Looking For

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

• A valid UK Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence
• At least 2 years' commercial Class 1 driving experience
• A valid Driver CPC qualification (DCPC)
• A valid Digital Tachograph Card
• A professional attitude with a strong commitment to safety and customer service
