Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR is seeking a Manager - Civil & Structural to lead the site-specific civil engineering design for our first Vattenfall project. You will oversee a growing team of 10–15 engineers, secondees and partners, directing delivery across the programme lifecycle in a hybrid setup with Derby, Warrington or Manchester as primary locations.

This high‑profile role requires Chartered Engineer status, proven leadership of complex programmes, and the ability to manage design integration, safety

Qualifications

• Engineering degree and Chartered Engineer status (ICE/IStructE).
• Experience leading complex engineering programmes with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in nuclear infrastructure or highly regulated environments.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Experience driving design integration and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead site-specific Civil & Structural team across programme lifecycle.
• Provide technical and people leadership across civil structures.
• Coordinate design integration with internal and external partners.
• Adapt reference design to site requirements while ensuring consistency.
• Champion health, safety and environmental excellence.
• Mentor engineers and foster inclusive culture.
• Support design management governance and planning.
• Engage with customers, regulators and authorities to support delivery.
• Support business development opportunities as required.
