Job summary

Amey Placement Student in Cardiff is an internship offering hands-on experience in structural assessment within the UK railway sector. You will work in the CAFA Structures Assessment Team, with exposure to bridges and heritage structures while contributing to safety-critical analyses and reports.

The role runs for 8–12 weeks starting July 2027, with mentoring, learning opportunities, and potential progression to the Graduate Programme upon completion of your studies.

Qualifications

• Currently studying for a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis and assessment calculations to determine the structural load carrying capacity of a variety of structures.
• Proposing strengthening and maintenance options.
• Planning and undertaking bridge inspections to confirm structural details and condition.
• Developing innovative solutions to enhance inspection and technical capabilities.
• Prepare technical drawings and reports.
