Job summary

Amey is offering a Civil Engineer Summer Intern role based in Cardiff within the CAFA team of its Transport Infrastructure unit. The position provides exposure to the structural assessment of railway assets across the UK and a pathway to the Graduate Programme after graduation.

The internship runs 8–12 weeks from July 2027, with a salary of £12.71 per hour and standard 37.5 hour weeks. You will work on analysis, inspections, and reporting under experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Currently studying for a degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one.
• Personal Track Safety (PTS) requirement.
• Apply all safety requirements when carrying out work.
• Proactive attitude towards learning and development, with progression towards professional status.

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis and assessment calculations to determine the structural load carrying capacity of a variety of structures.
• Proposing strengthening and maintenance options.
• Planning and undertaking bridge inspections to confirm structural details and condition.
• Developing innovative solutions to enhance inspection and technical capabilities.
• Prepare technical drawings and reports.
