Civil Engineer

Glasgow

Salary up to £45,000

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality civil engineering solutions across a variety of projects. As a Civil Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Project/Assistant Project Engineer for small to medium-scale civil or housing projects.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing design calculations for roads using PDS software or equivalent tools.
  • Designing and reviewing drainage systems using WINDES or equivalent software.
  • Preparing Phase 1 & 2 Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) reports.
  • Designing water mains for submission to Scottish Water.
  • Managing project budgets and schedules on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensuring the quality of drawing information leaving the office.
  • Coordinating roads and drainage applications and liaising with regulatory authorities for approvals.
  • Conducting civil and infrastructure engineering surveys and preparing technical reports.
  • Preparing schedules of work, bills of quantities, and conditions of contract for civil engineering projects.
  • Performing site inspections during construction to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Reviewing contractors’ drawings, design proposals, and method statements for project compliance.
  • Liaising directly with clients and other professionals involved in the project.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior staff members.
  • Staying updated on technical developments through relevant literature, courses, and seminars.
  • Assisting in providing Principal Designer services and undertaking risk assessments in line with CDM regulations.

To be considered for this Civil Engineer role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design software such as PDS and WINDES.
  • Strong understanding of civil and infrastructure engineering principles.
  • Experience in preparing technical reports, FRA reports, and water main designs.
  • Familiarity with regulatory processes and liaising with authorities for approvals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project deliverables effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional standards and confidentiality.
  • A proactive approach to mentoring and supporting junior staff.
