Job summary

CarmichaelUK seeks a Design Engineer to join our civil engineering team in Swindon, delivering infrastructure projects across highways, drainage, earthworks, utilities and development schemes. You will produce, coordinate and review designs from concept to construction, ensuring compliance with standards, client requirements and project specifications.

Degree in Civil Engineering and CAD software proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required.
• Experience as a Design Engineer in civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
• Knowledge of highways, drainage, earthworks, utilities and development infrastructure design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage or similar packages.
• Understanding of standards such as DMRB, S278, S38, S104, and Sewers for Adoption.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil engineering designs for a range of infrastructure projects.
• Produce detailed calculations, drawings, reports and specifications.
• Design highways, drainage systems, earthworks and utilities infrastructure.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform design reviews and value engineering to improve outcomes.
• Ensure designs comply with legislation, standards and health & safety requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, geotechnical, environmental and utilities engineers.
• Support project delivery from feasibility through to construction and completion.
• Attend site visits, design meetings and client presentations as required.
• Provide technical support during construction and resolve design-related queries.
