Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Civil Design Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading highways consultancy, to join their growing team in the UK. The role focuses on designing roads, drainage, and sewer infrastructure for development projects and coordinating with clients and authorities.

The ideal candidate will have solid civil design experience, UK standards knowledge, and proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD. Chartered status is preferred but not mandatory for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Proven civil engineering design experience in consultancy, developer, or housebuilder environments.
• Experience in site development, roads, drainage, and sewer design.
• Strong understanding of UK design standards and approval processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a team.
• Practical design experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design roads, drainage and sewer infrastructure for development projects.
• Prepare and review drawings, calculations and technical reports.
• Undertake site development and infrastructure design for residential and commercial schemes.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support delivery of projects from feasibility through to construction.
• Ensure designs comply with current industry standards, regulations and client requirements.
• Assist with coordination and management of project documentation and drawing packages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing roads, drainage, and sewer infrastructure for development projects
• Preparing and reviewing detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and technical reports
• Undertaking site development and infrastructure design for residential and commercial schemes
• Liaising with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, and multidisciplinary project teams
• Supporting the delivery of projects from feasibility through to construction
• Ensuring designs comply with current industry standards, regulations, and client requirements
• Assisting with the coordination and management of project documentation and drawing packages

Job Requirements:

Essential Experience:

• Proven civil engineering design experience within a consultancy, developer, or housebuilder environment
• Experience in site development, roads, drainage, and sewer design
• Strong understanding of UK design standards and approval processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a team environment
• Practical design experience is essential

Qualifications:

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE) preferred
• Candidates actively working towards Chartership will also be considered
