Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Civil Design Technician in Swindon. You will develop your career by working on residential, commercial and mixed‑use infrastructure projects.

The role offers training, structured development and progression opportunities, with a focus on highways and drainage design within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Exposure to civil/ infrastructure projects via employment, placements or internships.
• Experience using AutoCAD 2D (3D advantageous).
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of detailed infrastructure and civil designs.
• Produce technical drawings and design information using CAD software.
• Support delivery of highways, drainage and development infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, clients and external stakeholders to support delivery.
• Attend project meetings and site visits to develop technical understanding.
• Assist with preparation of technical reports and project documentation.

Civil Design Technician

Key Duties

• Experience using AutoCAD 2D, with 3D advantageous but not essential.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Enthusiastic approach to learning and professional development.
• Knowledge of highway and drainage design principles.
• Experience using Civil 3D, Site 3D, PDS, InfoDrainage or similar software.
• Understanding of UK infrastructure design standards and guidance, i.e. Manual for Streets and Sewers for Adoption.
• Previous consultancy or development-sector experience.Full UK driving licence.
