Job summary

Vetro Social Care is recruiting Children's Support Workers for Children Residential Services in Treforest. You will work 2:1 with other staff and children in their homes, supporting day-to-day activities and promoting wellbeing.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People, a valid UK driving licence, and restraint training. The position offers weekly pay, benefits, and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

  • TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • The right to work in the UK
  • At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar social care setting

Responsibilities

  • Support the children and young people in all day‑to‑day activities and interests
  • Restraint trained or be willing to undergo the 3‑day course
  • Promote the young person's independence and wellbeing
  • Attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the children
  • Attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests (e.g., climbing and baking cakes to weekends at Butlins)
  • Protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare
  • Provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home
  • Ensure the safety of young people by maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
  • Support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging

What you’ll need to have to be a successful Childrens Support Worker
  • A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
  • Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
  • At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar social care setting
  • TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • The right to work in the UK
