Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking compassionate Relief/Temporary Children\'s Support Workers to join our team in the Merthyr area. This temp role offers flexible shifts and competitive pay, ideal for someone looking to fit work around other commitments.

The successful candidate will support children and young people in daily activities and outings. You\'ll gain experience across different settings, helping with independence and wellbeing while staying committed to safeguarding and care plans.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months experience working with children or in a social care setting.
• TMVA restraint training certificate.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• The right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people in day-to-day activities and interests.
• Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the children.
• Provide emotional and practical support and promote independence and wellbeing.
• Maintain safety by following care plans and safeguarding guidelines.
• Be flexible to support weekend and evening activities.

What you’ll be doing as a Children's Support Worker:

• To support the children and young people in all day to day activities and interests
• Restraint Trained, or be willing to undergo the a training course.
• To promote the young persons independence and wellbeing
• To attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the Children
• To attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests. This can range from climbing and baking cakes to weekends away in Butlins.
• To protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare
• To provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.
• To ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
• To support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.

What You Need to Be Considered

• Relationship Building: The ability to engage and build strong relationships with young people.
• Understanding Trauma: Understanding the impacts of homelessness, domestic abuse, and trauma.
• Crisis Response: A forward-thinking attitude to crisis response.
• Emotional Resilience: The ability to remain calm and collected in challenging and traumatic situations.
• Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
• At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar Social Care setting
• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate
• Valid UK Driving Licence
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK
