Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Children’s Residential Support Worker for a 4-bedroom service in Warminster, Wiltshire. You will support young people aged 8-18 with EBD, promoting social, emotional and behavioural development in a safe, caring environment.

The role involves engaging in activities, maintaining a homely setting, and managing challenging behaviours with patience. Driving may be required; applicants must be over 21 and hold a Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in care or health settings is desirable.
  • Experience in safeguarding and promoting welfare in residential care is advantageous.
  • Must have a full driving licence and access to a car for transporting young people.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their lives.
  • Maintain a warm, homely environment within the residential setting.
  • Support young people to develop independence and wellbeing.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to health and welfare.
  • Develop positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers and other professionals.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and communication preferences.

Salary: £32,304 - £35,305 (Inclusive of sleep in's)

Job Description: Are you passionate about making a positive difference in young people's lives? A leading specialist provider is seeking dedicated Children’s Residential Support Workers to join a 4-bed children’s residential service in Warminster.

This is an exciting opportunity to support young people aged 8-18 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours. If you are enthusiastic, resilient, and motivated to help young people develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally in a safe and caring environment, this role is perfect for you.

Working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, you will find this work both challenging and incredibly rewarding. The role offers a chance to engage in fun activities like football, computer games, and trips to theme parks, making every day unique and fulfilling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, appropriate to their age.
  • Maintain a homely, friendly environment within the residential setting.
  • Manage challenging behaviours with patience and professionalism.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Support young people to develop independence and well-being.
  • Ensure a safe environment and keep up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and communication preferences.
  • Support and manage taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or with young people is desirable.
  • Experience in healthcare or social care settings is advantageous.
  • Must hold a full driving licence and have access to a car, as transportation of young people may be required.
  • Applicants must be over 21 years of age.
  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People is desirable.
  • Ability to commute to Warminster.
