Job summary

Vetro Social Care in Bridgend, Wales is seeking a Children's Support Worker to accompany young people in residential homes. You will work 2:1 with children and colleagues, supporting daily activities and wellbeing in a rewarding role. A full UK driving licence is required and training is provided.

Responsibilities include promoting independence, attending trips and events, and upholding care plans. Competitive weekly pay and entry into incentive schemes are offered.

Qualifications

• 6 months experience in working with children or within a similar social care setting
• TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate
• Valid UK driving licence
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one

• Promote the young person's independence and wellbeing
• Attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the children
• Attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people's interests (e.g., climbing, baking, Butlins)
• Provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home
• Ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines

• Pay: £13.68 - £28.40 inclusive of holiday pay

• Time: 08:00‑22:00 or 13:00‑22:00

What you’ll be doing as a Childrens Worker

• Support the children and young people in all day to day activities and interests
• Restraint trained, or be willing to undergo the 3‑day course
• Promote the young person's independence and wellbeing
• Attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the children
• Attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people's interests (e.g., climbing, baking, Butlins)
• Protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare
• Provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home
• Ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up‑to‑date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
• Support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging

What you’ll need to have to be a successful Childrens Support Worker

• A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
• Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
• At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar social care setting
• TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate
• Valid UK driving licence
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK
