Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home

Location: Leyland, Lancashire
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Employment: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Shift pattern includes days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep‑ins and lone working
Driving licence essential

Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker or Team Leader ready to step into a Deputy Manager role? Do you have a passion for improving the lives of children and young people in care? If so, we want to hear from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Manager to join a settled residential children's home in Leyland. You'll play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager to deliver high‑quality care in a safe, nurturing, and homely environment for young people aged 11‑18.

What you'll be doing:
  • Supporting the day‑to‑day management of the home, including staff supervision, rota planning, training, and performance management.
  • Helping to maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating by ensuring high standards of care and compliance.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with young people, supporting them to develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Contributing to care planning, safeguarding, and effective partnership working with external agencies and families.
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager and taking part in the on‑call rota.
What we're looking for:
  • Experience working with children/young people in residential care (minimum 11‑18 age range).
  • Supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and relevant legislation (Children's Homes Regulations, Working Together to Safeguard Children etc.).
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children's Social Care or a related field.
  • Strong communication, report writing and conflict management skills.
  • A full UK driving licence (preferably with no endorsements).
  • Commitment to working on a flexible rota including sleep‑ins and lone working.
Desirable:
  • Management or team‑leading qualifications.
  • Experience of achieving positive outcomes in challenging situations.
  • Understanding of diversity and inclusive practice.
