Salary: Points 11-14 with an hourly rate of £#removed# to £#removed#, which equates to an annual salary of £21,886 to £22,973, paid in 12 monthly instalments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare chemicals, equipment and materials for lessons; set up and clear away practical resources.
  • Maintain, clean, store and carry out minor repairs on laboratory equipment.
  • Organise and safely store chemicals and resources, ensuring all statutory checks and safety records are maintained.
  • Support the department in meeting Health & Safety requirements, including safe handling, correct labelling, and secure storage of materials.
  • Ensure laboratories and prep areas remain clean, safe and well‑organised.
  • Provide photocopying, printing and IT‑based administrative support.
  • Maintain inventories, update asset registers and assist with ordering and checking deliveries.
  • Help prepare the department for Open Days, events and examinations.
  • Support pupil safety, assist with first aid (training provided) and help in emergency procedures.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications

Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade A*-C, including English, Maths, and one science subject, or an equivalent/higher‑level science‑related qualification.

Experience / Knowledge
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to a laboratory environment.
  • Evidence of proficiency in the use of computer and ICT, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Proven effective planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calmness under pressure.
