Company Description

Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House is a picturesque boutique hotel occupying three buildings, two of which are 19th-century manor houses bursting with character. The hotel has been recently refurbished with décor inspired by Oxford vintage fashion.

Set within 3 acres of private gardens and only 2 miles from Oxford city centre, Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House Hotel is a beautiful country manor located in the charming village of Iffley. It offers 77 en-suite rooms, divided between two buildings, each with its own unique character.

The hotel is a 10-minute bus ride from the city centre and train station, or a relaxing 35-minute walk along the riverside Thames Path National Trail, just steps away from the hotel.


Job Description

Chef De Partie Position

  • Full-time position
  • £28,000 to £30,000 per annum
  • Plus service charge
  • Free car parking

Professional techniques / Production

  • Produces and presents dishes for the section in line with the hotel's and brand's cooking instructions and processes.
  • Ensures dishes are well presented, of high standard, and served at the correct temperature.
  • Delivers dishes promptly to meet guest expectations.
  • May be responsible for receiving deliveries, checking, and storing merchandise, depending on the hotel.
  • Organizes work and timing to accommodate fluctuations in guest numbers, special events, and specific guest requests.

Hygiene / Personal safety / Environment

  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of the workplace, respecting HACCP regulations.
  • Follows safety instructions for equipment use.
  • Adheres to hotel security procedures (e.g., fire safety).
  • Supports the hotel's environmental commitments (energy saving, recycling, waste sorting).

Qualifications

Knowledge and ability to manage a section effectively.

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in managing Commis Chefs.
  • Capability to produce high-quality food across all sections.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Team management skills.

Additional Information

Your team and working environment:

You will work alongside the Head Chef, Sous Chefs, Commis Chefs, and kitchen porters.

Your shifts will vary based on business needs, and weekend work is required.

If you hold a citizen passport other than UK, you must provide proof of Right to Work in the UK.
