Their expertise encompasses civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and process engineering disciplines, with a focus on providing advice for CAR (Contractors All Risks) and EAR (Erection All Risks) insurance policies. Your job title will be "Civil Risk Engineer" and you will be providing advice on the risks associated with large and complex civil engineering transportation projects. These will include major highway schemes, rail infrastructure, bridges, and tunnel developments, with assignments typically in Europe, South East Asia, Latin America, the USA, and the Middle East. International travel is typically required once per month.
You will provide practical, real‑world insight — offering front‑end advice to underwriters and risk managers, and then monitor the progress of insured projects as they move through construction.
A chartered civil engineer with a background that includes major transportation infrastructure. This experience could have been gained with a contractor, consultant, or a client organisation. An understanding of the construction process, buildability issues and programming is essential, some site based experience is required. The position calls for a senior level engineer with ten plus years’ experience, with a mix of technical, practical and communication skills. Previous civil engineering risk or insurance related experience is advantageous, but not essential.
