Job summary

Anchor Group Services is seeking a Cleaning Supervisor (Maternity Cover) to oversee daily cleaning services at Gloucester Quays. You will manage deployment, lead the team and ensure high standards are met while handling health and safety compliance.

This hands-on supervisory role requires active cleaning duties, effective leadership, and reliable shift handovers. The position offers a 9–12 month fixed-term contract with a 6:00am–6:00pm shift pattern and an hourly rate of £14.35.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in commercial cleaning and supervising or leading a team.
• Ability to organise workloads and maintain consistent standards.
• Understanding of COSHH, health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Clear communication skills and a professional customer service approach.
• Willingness to undertake hands-on cleaning duties and work the agreed rota, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
• Experience in a shopping centre, retail or other busy public environment.
• Experience supporting cleaning audits, KPI reporting and improvement plans.
• Training in the safe operation of ride-on and pedestrian cleaning machinery.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day cleaning operation, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times.
• Organise and deploy the cleaning team effectively, allocating duties and monitoring performance throughout each shift.
• Lead, motivate and support team members, providing coaching, training and guidance where required.
• Carry out routine inspections and quality checks, addressing any issues promptly and ensuring contractual standards are met.
• Participate in cleaning activities as required, including planned, reactive and specialist cleaning tasks.
• Ensure cleaning equipment, machinery and chemicals are used, stored and maintained safely and in accordance with company procedures.
• Monitor stock levels and order cleaning materials and consumables as required.
• Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH and company policies, promoting safe working practices at all times.
• Oversee waste management and recycling processes, ensuring all areas remain clean, safe and presentable.
• Build positive relationships with centre management, retailers, contractors and visitors, delivering excellent customer service.
• Complete operational records, shift handovers and reports, keeping the Contract Manager informed of any issues or developments.
