Job summary

AECOM is seeking a CDM Principal Designer to join our Environment & Energy SH&E Team, with flexibility to be based at any main UK office location including Manchester, Basingstoke, Glasgow, Cambridge and Bristol.

You will provide Principal Designer services on major energy infrastructure projects, champion health, safety and wellbeing, and guide teams through the pre-construction phase while ensuring compliance with CDM and delivering value to clients.

Qualifications

• Design / engineering degree.
• Experience in Overhead lines and HV projects.
• Member of the Association of Project Safety.
• NEBOSH National or General Certificate, or similar health and safety qualification.
• Experience in delivering the Principal Designer role, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of duties under CDM on energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Be a Safety Champion: Function as a prominent advocate for health, safety and the environment, encouraging continuous improvement to foster a mature safety culture.
• Be Proactive: Lead pre-construction phase, champion risk mitigation, enhance communication and cooperation, and manage design-to-construction transition including health and safety files.
• Deliver Excellence: Ensure excellence and added value in all tasks and deliverables, seeking continuous improvement of methods and results.
• Provide CDM Support, Advice & Guidance: Offer CDM counsel to energy teams and clients to ensure statutory duties are met.
• One Team: Collaborate to form a cohesive, supportive team to achieve goals.
• Management Systems Implementation: Promote adherence to procedures and processes to bolster safety culture.
• SH&E Promotion: Support the promotion of safety culture and wellbeing initiatives.

Education

Design / engineering degree

Experience in Overhead lines and HV projects
