Job summary

AECOM is seeking a CDM Principal Designer to join our Environment & Energy SH&E Team. The role can be based in Manchester, Basingstoke, Glasgow, Cambridge or Bristol, and involves providing Principal Designer services on major UK energy infrastructure projects.

You will collaborate with the GGP CDM Lead, advocate best practices in health and safety, deliver pre-construction risk mitigation, and help produce health and safety files to support project delivery.

Qualifications

• Design / engineering degree.
• Experience in Overhead lines and HV projects.
• Member of the Association of Project Safety.
• NEBOSH National or General Certificate, or similar health and safety qualification.
• Experience in delivering the Principal Designer role, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of duties under CDM on energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Be a Safety Champion: Function as a prominent advocate for health, safety and the environment, encouraging continuous improvement to cultivate a mature safety culture.
• Be Proactive: Lead pre-construction phase, champion risk mitigation, enhance communication, and manage the transition from design to construction.
• Deliver Excellence: Ensure excellence in every task, activity, and deliverable, and continuously improve methods and results.
• Provide CDM Support, Advice & Guidance: Offer CDM counsel to energy teams and clients to ensure statutory duties are met.
• One Team: Collaborate with colleagues to form a cohesive team and support shared goals.
• Management Systems Implementation: Advocate adherence to procedures to foster compliance.
• SH&E Promotion: Support promotion of Safety for Life and Life Preserving Principles to foster a safe workplace.
