Job description

Catering Supervisor

Band 3 - £26,869 - £28,998 (pro rata)

Plus £1,349 Distant Islands Allowance (pro rata)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Catering Supervisor to join our dedicated team at Western Isles Hospital. You will work closely with the Catering Manager and Chefs to ensure high-quality service provision and compliance with food safety systems.

You will support all catering staff within the department, ensuring adherence to systems and policies across stores, kitchen, dining rooms, and patient food services. This hands-on role primarily involves front-of-house services and the daily operation of the catering department. You should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to service improvement.

A current intermediate food hygiene certificate is required, along with an understanding of food safety systems and allergen legislation.

Hours are scheduled over a 3-week cycle, working up to 5 days per week with shifts between 7am and 7.30pm, including occasional weekends.

We offer enhanced pay rates for weekend hours, a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days rising to 33 days including public holidays, access to the NHS pension scheme, and paid special leave.

This role is ideal for someone with supervisory experience seeking a new challenge and capable of motivating and leading a team.
