Job description

A day in the life of a Food Service Assistant:

  • Customer Service & Food Service
  • Provide friendly, efficient counter service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure food displays are well-presented, replenished, and maintained to Aramark standards.
  • Handle customer queries professionally and promote a positive dining experience.
  • Assist in serving hot and cold food during peak periods.
  • Follow all Aramark and West London College food safety, allergen, and hygiene procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across service areas, equipment, and work surfaces.
  • Ensure safe storage, labelling, and rotation (FIFO) of all food items.
  • Support compliance checks, daily paperwork, and operational audits.
  • Assist with basic food preparation following chef or supervisor instructions.
  • Carry out washing up, waste disposal, and cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Support the receipt and organisation of deliveries, including stock rotation.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, stored safely, and reported if faulty.
  • Experience in catering or customer service (not essential - we can train on the job we are looking for the right person for good service and personality)
  • Knowledge of basic food hygiene.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently during busy periods.
  • Reliable and team-oriented.
  • This is a full time contract working shifts between 8am and 2.30pm - Monday to Friday.
