Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Falkirk, is currently looking to recruit a Catering Manager for an initial 6-month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £18.96/hour PAYE.
This role will be across various sites around Falkirk.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the running of the Catering Department and ensure all events are set up in accordance with the booker’s requirements.
- Ensure the catering department is fully resourced, including staffing, and that all processes and procedures are adhered to by staff.
- Manage the Catering department and catering rotas.
- Liaise with department heads to ensure rooms are set in accordance with booker's requirements.
- Monitor and maintain Health and Safety regulations to ensure a safe, clean working environment and compliance with industry standards.
- Ensure the department operates in accordance with the conditions of the premises license.
- Manage stock control and place orders as necessary.
- Implement and monitor catering cleaning standards.
- Plan and organise workload effectively.
- Contribute to the development of plans and strategies.
- Handle conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Manage a budget.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and others.
- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ensure adherence to regulations and organisational policies.
- Handle and process information responsibly.
- Maintain stock control within the designated area.
- Work safely and follow procedures.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture and comply with the organisation's Health and Safety Policy.
- Take care of own health and safety and that of others at work.
- Possess basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Hold an HND in Hospitality Management or equivalent.
- Demonstrate organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Have significant experience, including working as part of a team and managing a team.
- Be familiar with relevant legislation.
- Possess basic computer literacy.
- Have previous catering and supervisory experience, including in events and/or hospitality catering.
- Hold a Certificate in Food Hygiene or equivalent.
- Have analytical skills and experience with current Health and Safety regulations.
- Experience using MS Office packages.
- Experience managing a budget and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience working in a conference setting.
- Gaelic language skills are desirable.
