Job summary

Cats Protection in Surrey is seeking a Rehoming and Welfare Assistant to help care for cats, keep pens clean, assist with veterinary runs, and support adoption viewings across the centre.

The role is 16.5 hours per week, with weekends on a rota, a permanent contract, and a driving license is essential. We offer health benefits, pension, and development opportunities within a national charity.

Qualifications

• Full, manual driving license is essential.
• Excellent communicator with strong empathy.
• Experience of customer service and dealing with members of the public.
• Experience of animal welfare and cat care, including feeding, cleaning and handling.
• Health and safety awareness and comfortable with manual handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning of cat pens, including litter trays, in the various sections of the centre.
• Feed and care for cats requiring additional medical or behavioural treatment as required.
• Present a professional and friendly image to customers and visitors.
• Assist with veterinary runs, including driving the Cats Protection vehicle off-site when required.
• Work with volunteers to coach and guide them on cat care duties.
• Support with the scheduling and preparation of rehoming information, viewings and adoption of cats in care.
