Job summary

Bromford Flagship Livewest is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our responsive repairs team. You will carry out carpentry repairs and maintenance across occupied and void properties, install and repair doors, windows, flooring, tiling, and related fixtures, and contribute to delivering a high-quality, right-first-time service for our tenants.

This permanent role includes a company van and tools, a 40-hour week (Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00, with Friday until 14:30), and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Full Trade Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2 in carpentry
• Proven experience in repairs and maintenance in a housing environment
• Strong practical carpentry skills and ability to diagnose issues
• Good knowledge of materials, tools, and estimating requirements
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rota

Responsibilities

• Carrying out carpentry repairs and maintenance across occupied and void properties
• Installing and repairing doors, windows, flooring, tiling and fixtures
• Undertaking basic painting and decorating tasks
• Completing damp and mould treatment, void clearances and flood repairs
• Using schedules of rates to assess jobs, produce estimates and complete work efficiently
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, to high standards, and right first time
• Identifying and arranging asbestos removal where required
• Using a company vehicle and tools to complete daily tasks
• Delivering excellent customer service and supporting tenants with their needs
• Responding to and escalating safeguarding or emergency situations

Job description

Do you measure twice and cut once, taking pride in getting things right first time? Can you handle everything from first fix frameworks to second fix finishes without losing your edge? And when a job gets tricky, do you still manage to finish it spot on?

We’re looking for a skilled and customer-focused Carpenter to join our responsive repairs team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining and improving our homes, ensuring our tenants receive an outstanding repairs service and can truly thrive where they live.

Working across our housing portfolio, you’ll carry out a wide range of carpentry and property maintenance tasks, supporting colleagues across different trades when needed.

Working hours: 40hpw, Monday - Friday, 08:00-17:00 Friday 08:00-14:30

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Carrying out carpentry repairs and maintenance across occupied and void properties

• Undertaking basic painting and decorating tasks

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• A Full Trade Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent experience in carpentry

• Proven experience in repairs and maintenance within a similar environment

• Strong practical skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues effectively

• Good knowledge of materials, tools, and estimating job requirements

• Excellent customer service and communication skills

• Problem-solving and decision-making ability

• Basic IT skills (e.g. Outlook, Teams, and digital work scheduling systems)

• A full UK driving licence

• Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, including public holidays
