Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support preparation and service of nutritious meals for Residents, while upholding high standards of cleanliness and food safety. You will work under the Chef or Cook, ensuring warm, respectful service and accurate record-keeping.

Applicants should have kitchen experience or be willing to work towards an NVQ2, with strong organisation, attention to detail, and a patient, kind approach to Residents and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience in a care or similar setting is preferred.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential.
• Patience, respect and genuine kindness when interacting with Residents and colleagues.
• Safeguarding training is required or to be undertaken as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serving meals with warmth and respect in a timely manner.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitoring and recording food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Supporting stock rotation and ensuring ingredients are stored properly.
• Showing new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen spotless, including after busy lunch periods.
