Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to deliver high-quality care through food in our dementia, nursing, residential, and specialist care homes. You will assist with meal prep, serve meals, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen while supporting residents with their dietary needs and wellbeing.

We value kindness and patience, and training is provided with opportunities to develop and progress within HC-One. An NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it is required.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience is preferred.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Safeguarding training appropriate to role is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, including after lunch rush.
