Job summary

Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting a Caretaker for a site in Birmingham B9. The role involves supporting daily site operation, safety and maintenance, with opportunities for overtime and occasional weekend work.

Ideal candidates will have caretaking, facilities management or building support experience, strong Health & Safety awareness and good communication skills to liaise with supervisors, contractors and the client.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Open and close buildings and ensure site security.
• Conduct daily site inspections and identify hazards or defects.
• Log maintenance issues and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Perform planned maintenance and minor repairs within capability.
• Carry out general caretaking duties including porterage, litter picking, cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Manage site stock, materials and equipment.
• Record statutory checks such as fire alarm and emergency lighting tests.
• Report hazards and incidents and maintain compliance records.

Hatched Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Caretaker to work at a site in Birmingham B9.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous caretaking, facilities management, maintenance or building support experience. The role offers a varied workload, with the opportunity for overtime and occasional weekend work.

The Role

As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation, safety and maintenance of the site. You will work independently while also liaising with supervisors, contractors, technical teams and the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and closing buildings and ensuring site security.
• Carrying out daily site inspections and identifying defects.
• Logging maintenance issues through the helpdesk and ensuring jobs are completed within required timescales.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and minor repairs within your capabilities.
• General caretaking duties including porterage, litter picking, cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Managing site stock, materials and equipment.
• Carrying out and recording statutory compliance checks, including fire alarm testing and emergency lighting checks.
• Reporting hazards, near misses and incidents.
• Maintaining accurate compliance records and documentation.
• Supporting safeguarding requirements.
• Providing site information, reports and other information when required.

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS required to enter the site.
• Previous experience in caretaking, facilities management, maintenance or a similar role is desirable.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe systems of work.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to deal confidently with contractors, clients and site users.
• Dark clothing and safety boots required.
• Flexibility to work occasional weekends and overtime.
