Caretaker
Carnforth
We're looking for a practical, reliable person to take ownership of the day-to-day presentation and upkeep of our site in Carnforth. This role is essential in keeping our offices, workshop areas, and shared spaces safe, tidy, and running smoothly. From cleaning and basic repairs to supporting general site operations, you'll be the go-to person who helps keep everything in top condition.
What You'll Be Doing
- Keeping all areas of the building clean and well-presented, including offices, workshop spaces, kitchens, bathrooms, and communal areas.
- Carrying out routine cleaning tasks such as wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
- Making sure cleaning products and washroom supplies are always fully stocked and ordering replacements when needed.
- Emptying bins and managing waste disposal daily.
- Helping the admin team by keeping an eye on building systems such as alarms, lighting, and heating.
- Conducting regular safety checks and reporting any issues that need attention.
- Tackling simple maintenance jobs—tightening loose fittings, unblocking sinks, replacing minor fixtures, and other small repairs.
- Looking after the outdoor areas by litter picking and general grounds tidying.
- Completing any necessary paperwork relating to maintenance or cleaning tasks.
- Ensuring tools and equipment are looked after and safe to use.
- Following all Health & Safety, Environmental and COSHH requirements.
- Carrying out monthly deep cleans and disinfection tasks across the site.
- Helping with small decorating jobs when required.
- Overseeing milk deliveries and returning empty bottles for collection.
- Keeping an eye on water dispenser levels and refilling as needed.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience in caretaking, cleaning, or general maintenance.
- Understanding of COSHH regulations.
- Someone who works well on their own but also fits into a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Dependable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Able to follow instructions clearly and work methodically.
- Good communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Familiarity with health & safety procedures.
Hours
- Mon-Thu: 6:00am - 3:00pm
- Fri: 9:30am - 5:00pm or 10:00am - 5:30pm
(As this is a new position, hours may be adjusted to suit business needs.)
