Job summary

Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative in Pontypool is seeking a Service Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our support service for people with learning disabilities. You will drive person-centred Active Support, oversee plans, and coach a team to deliver high-quality services.

You’ll build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensure compliance with practice standards, and motivate staff to continually improve outcomes. Weekend and sleep-in shifts apply.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with learning difficulties in a social care setting.
• Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care (or actively working towards).
• Strong caring nature to support others to live an enriched life and fulfil their potential.
• Effective communication and the ability to influence others.
• Knowledge of the Care Council for Wales Code of Practice.
• Flexibility to work shifts and provide cover as required.
• Access to own car and willing to use it for transporting people; pay 45p per mile for business miles.
• Driver’s licence and willingness to travel for meetings and training.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation and management of the support service.
• Provide motivational leadership and direction to your team.
• Build positive relationships with stakeholders and embody our vision and values.
• Review service delivery plans, support plans, progress logs, and risk assessments.
• Manage a team of support workers and develop them through coaching.
• Encourage problem solving and creative approaches to support needs.
• Focus on achieving high levels of support and independence for the people we support.
