Job summary

Bupa, Aston Court Care Home in Sutton Coldfield, is seeking a Maintenance Operative to ensure facilities remain fully functional and compliant. You will maintain buildings and equipment, follow Bupa SOPs, and support a resident-focused environment.

Key duties include completing safety checks, managing repairs with approved contractors, and assisting with inductions and regional maintenance tasks as needed. A relevant qualification or substantial hands-on experience is required.

Qualifications

• A building/electrical/plumbing qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC etc) or a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in property maintenance and general repairs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out health and safety and compliance checks using digital systems as directed by SOPs and compliance tools.
• Close tasks assigned by Maintenance Manager or home as per schedules.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness to meet Environmental Health, Fire Authority, Legionella and Health & Safety requirements.
• Complete maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard and timely manner, ensuring value for money.
• Document residents' preferences in personal space and act on them.
• Report defects, obtain quotes and manage repairs with approved contractors.
• Assist with induction of new colleagues on emergency procedures and safety equipment.
